Fag Ash and Beer the debut album of British guitarist and singer-songwriter Jake Aaron attracted a slew of favourable reviews when it was released in the Autumn and has recently been shortlisted for FATEA’s debut album of the year. One of the most talked about tracks from the album, the charmingly hypnotic, moodily atmospheric and instantly addictive instrumental ‘Elvis Has Left The Building’ is now set for digital release as a single on 3rd February.

Jake Aaron: “Elvis Has Left The Building” has a pretty good vibe. It was originally an acoustic piece with lyrics, but the band sounded so good I left it as is, like we were Elvis’s warm up band. After we recorded it, I was downstairs in the studio making a coffee and Kenny Jones, the engineer, and the others were playing it back upstairs. We had a busy schedule and when I heard it I thought “Why are they listening to that soul funk track on the radio? We should be getting on with my stuff!”

About Jake Aaron:

Jake absorbed a lot of different music growing up, mainly from the second-hand Tape & Record Exchange in Camden Town- Adam and the Ants, The Jam, The Selecter, 80’s synth, SKA, Soul, Classical, Jazz, Prog Rock, and a dose of Heavy Metal. But as an acoustic/folk guitarist he was blown away watching Jerry Donahue playing ‘The Claw’ on a telecaster and hearing Jorma Kaukonen’s ‘Embryonic Journey’ for the first time. He released his first EP of acoustic pieces at the end of 2015 which received some nice feedback from Folk and Indie listeners. Teaming up with Hammond maestro Steve Lodder, trumpeter Steve Waterman and the legendary Guy Pratt on bass, Jake’s 2018 single ‘Give Me Your Horse’ was a bigger, jazzier number which had airplay on both Folk and Jazz stations including the BBC’s Jazz Nights. He released his debut album ‘ Fag Ash and Beer’ in September 2019.
